Family Drama

Thanksgiving is about family and family is about drama. Right?

Wrong.

I am thankful this year that there is so little drama in my family. Oh, we're passionate and opinionated, but we are also kind. So much family drama involves some type of cruelty.

I don't understand those who thrive on drama, those who create drama for its own sake, those who stir up drama.

So this year, I am thankful that I am part of an extended family that thrives on love and kindness.

This post resonated with me, as John and I have often discussed another couple we know who often yell at each other -- and hapless guests in political arguments--yet promptly dismiss these screamfests as displays of their "passionate" nature.

To both of us, it comes across as rudeness, incivility and a poor way to address disagreement. But hey, according to this couple, John and I simply lack passion about anything.
