Coluber constrictor foxii

Blue racers are rarely found in shrubs or trees, but this rather large one climbed the undergrowth on the edge of the woods. They climb when threatened. I wonder if Samson, our yellow lab, didn't scare the snake into the branches. Note the buds on the shrubs!

I'm thankful everyday that in all my years of gardening, so far, I've never run across a snake. That's a big one!

We are in full flower down here in Georgia, with a pollen count around 5930. But snakes in trees? That's a first for me.

I just ran into two of them today on my walk. They were HUGE! They both climbed up into the shrubs near by. I'm glad they went away from me rather than at me!!!!
